A solitary young painter talks a heartbroken woman out of throwing herself into the Seine, and over four moonlit nights on the bridges of Paris they trade confessions and fall into a fragile, dreamlike closeness. Adapting Dostoevsky's White Nights, Robert Bresson conjures a tender, melancholy romance suspended between longing and reality.
