Made in Ethiopia
When a Chinese industrial park arrives in rural Ethiopia, a farming town becomes a frontier of globalization. Chinese director Motto oversees a high-stakes expansion that promises 30,000 jobs, while Ethiopian farmer Workinesh and factory worker Beti stake their futures on the prosperity it brings. As hope meets reality, all three reach a crossroads.
Filmed over four years, the documentary looks at China's impact on Africa and at contemporary Ethiopia in crisis, through a multi-perspective story that refuses easy victims and villains.
